The largest predatory dinosaur ever – T. rex is toast!
The paleontologists,Paul Sereno and National Geographic 2014 Emerging Explorer Nizar Ibrahim, are reconstructing a complete skeleton of the Spinosaurus.
"In this exhibition, you can explore a full-sized skeletal model as well as genuine dinosaur fossils and learn about the latest technologies modern paleontologists use. Travel with National Geographic explorers and scientists to the remote edges of the Sahara to discover the origins of this rare African dinosaur and the mysterious journey that led to its rediscovery."

That article makes it seem as if spino whas the biggest predator

Few things...
1. They say 50 feet long and 6 tons. Not much longer and not even heavier than T.rex(unless they give T.rex an unbelievably low weight of 5 tons).
2. If you click the link in the article, it says full skeleton MODEL and a few fossils to go with it. Not exactly a full skeleton. It's a reconstruction.

And by larger, they mean longer and taller, not heavier. 6 tons, eh? Fair to say I'm using this in a topic I'm working on.
Jack of all trades. Master of none

I think it's important to note, it's not a REAL skeleton.

I'm more going for the size (fifty feet long, twenty feet tall, 6 tons), and national geographic is pretty legit.

True
PS- Here's an actual link to the article...

There's another link in the article that takes you to a page explaining the REPLICA and exhibit.

Oh, not a actual Skelton... That's a bit disappointing.

Oh a replica...
When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade. Tell life I don't want you're damn lemons, and then squeeze them into life's eyes!

Just read the full article. Biggest predatory dinosaur 6 tons! I really hope they don't mean heaviest of the theropods at 6 tons. -_-

I know right. 6 tons is actually in line with my estimates on Spinosaurus weight, as is the 50 ft length estimate. However, I'm still on the fact that it's a replica.

It's on my estimates to but, I don't think it's the heaviest theropod!

"At over 50 feet long, 20 feet high and weighing in at 6 tons, Spinosaurus is the largest predatory dinosaur to ever roam the Earth"
Did we just get confirmation this thing wasn't the largest theropod? I think alot of us have been saying that for a while..
Nature doesn't deceive us; it is we who deceive ourselves.

Here's a pic of the "skeleton"

Huh thats kinda cool! But I think that Nat geo think the Tryranosaurus is about 4tons or something like that.

They must.
Thanks AL!
I could not read it because the URL Lead to no where.
Life cannot be contained, it breaks walls, crashes through barriers sometimes painfully, but uh... Life uh, finds a way

That's better. Well done Al.

Cool. I've actually met Paul Sereno before, and he's a pretty cool guy. I'm actually not even surprised by this, as he really loves Spinosaurs, especially suchomimus, which he discovered.
Cool find, and I hope I get to see this reconstruction someday.

This is pretty cool! Nice find!

Just noticed something ridiculous.
They say in the article that spinos spines were up to 7 feet long.
The longest one we have found is 5.4 feet long -_-.

That, and look at those legs! They're so short! I know spinosaurs didn't have really long legs, but wow. Plus that sail is very square, haha

Wow, how do they expect those legs to hold "the biggest carnivorus dinosaur" as they say. And the sail looks much more like a hump then a sail. Maybe they should change the name to humposaurus, haha.

Yeah, I must agree that the proportions do look quite off...
