For a while now, the new Mutant Dinosaur teased in Jurassic World Rebirth has been referred to as the D-Rex thanks to early leaks. Today, thanks to merchandise packaging on a Mattel action figure of the D-Rex, we now know the full name for this genetic abomination is the Distortus Rex! The toy also offers a clearer look at the D-Rex's physical features, check it out:


The name suits the creature well, given its distorted physiology compared to its genetic predecessors. Perhaps the Distortus Rex was one of the first Dinosaurs they created at Jurassic Park, before they "got it right". Errors in the genome, due to their splicing efforts with frogs might have accounted for the accidental creation of this beast before the sequencing was perfected.

Jurassic World Rebirth sequel
The sequel to Rebirth is in development with filming expected to commence by the Fall of 2026. With Gareth Edwards expected to return to helm the sequel and lead star Scarlett Johansson reprising her role as well, the next Jurassic entry will continue the story from where Rebirth left off.
