Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom's ending will set up for Jurassic World 3, producer Colin Trevorrow confirmed during a recent video interview. Although we've known that Universal were planning a completely new Jurassic trilogy with the release of Jurassic World, it is reassuring to hear that the studio still plans on pursuing a third film after Fallen Kingdom. Of course we can assume box office performance of Fallen Kingdom will dictate just how quickly they crank out that third film, Trevorrow suggests the story will require a third installment to complete the story they have forged:

I knew where I wanted it to go. I remember telling Steven even while we were making the first movie, “This is the beginning. Here is the middle. And here’s the end of the end.' This is where we want to go. I feel like that kind of design is crucial to a franchise like this if you really want to bring people along with you and make sure they stay interested. It needs to be thought through on that level. It can’t be arbitrary, especially if we want to turn this into a character-based franchise with people who you lean in to follow what they’re going to do.

Jurassic World Rebirth sequel
The sequel to Rebirth is in development with filming expected to commence by the Fall of 2026. With Gareth Edwards expected to return to helm the sequel and lead star Scarlett Johansson reprising her role as well, the next Jurassic entry will continue the story from where Rebirth left off.
