Jeff Goldblum is set to reprise his role as the witty and charismatic scientist Dr. Ian Malcolm in the upcoming Jurassic World sequel, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. However, during a recent interview with Empire, Goldblum (who has been doing press rounds promoting Thor: Ragnarok) revealed that his role in Fallen Kingdom will be a fairly small one:
It’s small… who knows, they may cut me out entirely! But if I stay in I’ll be a sprig of parsley or a little garnish, hopefully with some impact!
This news comes as a bit of a disappointment to many of us who were hoping Goldblum's return would be more than just a "garnish" role. Ian Malcolm was such a pivotal character in the first two Jurassic Park films, it would be extremely unfortunate to waste the character on a small cameo role. What do you think? The sequel to Rebirth is in development with filming expected to commence by the Fall of 2026. With Gareth Edwards expected to return to helm the sequel and lead star Scarlett Johansson reprising her role as well, the next Jurassic entry will continue the story from where Rebirth left off.
