Despite early skepticism and rumors suggesting Jurassic World 2 would take the franchise off the islands for good, it has come to our attention that the highly anticipated Jurassic World sequel will in fact begin filming on the island of Hawaii once again beginning early February, 2017!
According to our friends at JurassicOutpost as well as Reel Tours Hawaii, Jurassic World 2 will return to one of the classic islands in one form or another.
Originally, producer Colin Trevorrow revealed the franchise would be taking a drastic turn in a new direction - referencing Alan Grant's famous quote from Jurassic Park, concerning the re-introduction of Dinosaurs in a world populated by Human beings. As he says, "Two species separated by 65 million years of evolution, how could we have the slightest idea, what to expect" (or something very close to that effect) would be the basis or Jurassic World 2. It was also revealed that Jurassic World 2 would feature Dinosaurs on the mainland and would not continue to focus on an isolated reserve on Island Nublar or Island Sorna. Filming will also be taking place in London, but currently were unsure if that will include on-location filming or studio.
This news could suggest the film may either begin or end on one of the famous islands once again, but the likelihood of the film primarily taking place on the island is still unlikely given what we know so far.

Jurassic World Rebirth sequel
The sequel to Rebirth is in development with filming expected to commence by the Fall of 2026. With Gareth Edwards expected to return to helm the sequel and lead star Scarlett Johansson reprising her role as well, the next Jurassic entry will continue the story from where Rebirth left off.
